In honour of #WorldSuicidePreventionDay we at The Hollywood Mag have assembled a list of celebrities who checked out much too early. We still mourn the loss of many of these stars. Mental illness does not discriminate and torments all members of society, including celebrities. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health issues and is considering suicide, please seek help!

Here is a look at some of the more shocking and sad celebrity tragedies of our time.

Whitney Houston (1963-2012)

In 2009, the Guinness book of records asserted that RnB sensation Whitney Houston was the most awarded female celebrity around. However, her glittering career was marred by multiple incidences of drug use. In early February,2012,she was found unresponsive in her tub at the Beverly Hills Hotel and died within hours. The cause of death was drowning, with evidence of cocaine use found in the body. Sadly her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown also passed away shortly afterwards in 2015.

This should be named demons who got the best of celebrities. Most of them had help, most of them had people who cared about them. Most of these people sought help. They just could not conquer. Terrible, terrible cover.

Mental illness and substance abuse are usually related. Drug and alcohol addiction is usually (but not always) related to a mental illness.
